The White Rose Ministries of Chicago, is a confessional and theologically conservative ministry. We are "confessional" in that our beliefs are clearly written out and, we pray, lived out daily in our ministry under the cross of Jesus Christ. The congregations to which we refer share the same confessional beliefs. The simplest confession of our faith is in the Three Creeds of the Christian Church. An overview of our beliefs can be achieved by reading through The Small Catechism, written by Dr. Martin Luther. Both of these resources are available from our website. At The White Rose Ministries we believe, teach, and confess that the Holy Bible is the complete, inerrant, and inspired Word of God, still relevant to today as it has been throughout all ages and believe that the Word of God is the basis, norm. and ultimate authority for all of our lives. All of our teaching, preaching, and ministry is firmly rooted in the Word of God - the Holy Scriptures. In Psalm 119 we read, "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." (Psalm 119:105) As Lutheran's, the center of our faith is Jesus Christ who is the way, the truth, and the life - the Light of the world. All of our doings in our ministry are directed toward Him and the Cross. For there is no life apart from Jesus Christ. Our Lord himself has told us, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." (John 14:6) Our full confession of faith is expressed in The Book of Concord of 1580. We accept The Book of Concord of 1580 containing the three Ecumenical Creeds (namely the Apostles Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Athenasian Creed), the Unalterable Augsburg Confession, The Defense of the Augsburg Confession, The Smalcald Articles, The Power and Primacy of the Pope, the Small and Large Catechisms, The Epitome of the Formula of Concord, and the Solid Declaration of the Formula of Concord as a true and unadulterated statement and exposition of the Word of God. We accept these as authoritative because they are drawn from the Word of God. Furthermore, we maintain a quia (full) subscription to these confessions. |
