Well, I finally got around to listening to Pastor Fisk’s sermon from last week. Oops. His theology is good, but umm.. his facts are, well, a little off. So, I being the perfectionist that I am, am going to micromanage.
I guess that Pastor Fisk wasn’t up on the latest technology. In November of 2005, I had a brand new, Hewlett Packard Pentium 75 that, well wasn’t the best on the market (I remember they had 133′s since my buddy at Best Buy had one!). It was in 1996 I threw that piece of junk away and acquired a Pentium MMX 200 from Sony. It served me well until in 2001 when it was, well retired. Read more... Well, my computer’s hard drive failed for the fourth time in about 14 months on the 14th. Unfortunately, it took me a couple days to get to Best Buy to pick up a replacement and by the time I got it restored, well, it was yesterday. Oh well…
Now I wish I knew how to keep my hard drives in tip top shape. I only have problems with the internal hard drives and I know the voltage to the drive is ok, it’s been tested by Sony’s lab and two independent shops…
It appears that the most recent backup that wasn’t corrupted was from July 22. I know that is four months old, but what can you do. The forums are live, now lets see if everything works.
Phew, I am so busy with getting my website back online. I believe I have most of the static files loaded. Now I have to upload the database files. This is going to take some time as I can not seem to locate a good backup of the forum’s database.
On top of this hassle, I have to "fix" the church’s computers. Pastor’s sonset up the network, but I don’t believe he knew what he was doing…he locked out the ability to update Windows – even from the administrator account! Needless to say, it doesn’t help that Pastor is computer illiterate.
