This past weekend I had the opportunity to travel to one of my churches seminaries, Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana for the first time ever. It was to visit a few of our former vicars and a member who is going on vicarage. I mention them now:
- Pastor Elect Stuart N. Floyd, Redeemer Lutheran Church in Warsaw, Indiana, vicar 2004-2005
- Pastor Elect Peter A. Richert, Our Savior Lutheran Church in Mt. Pocono, Pennslyvania, vicar 2005-2006
- Vicar Elect Christopher R. Gillespie, Immanuel Lutheran Church, Saginaw, Michigan
- Vicar Elect William Orr, St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lockport, Illinois 2007-2008
When I was at the seminary I had found a wonderful book by Rev. Charles McClean called the Conduct of the Services. Unfortunately, I never was able to find the book in print. Well, until just recently. Seminarian Powell mentioned that the book was back in print – thanks to Father McClean and Redeemer Press. I ordered the book (the cover is just gorgeous in itself) and received it a couple of weeks back.
Wednesday is Ash Wednesday (hard to believe it’s Lent already). We have our Lenten Potlucks coming up and, naturally, catholic me strikes up a conversation with another elder on what we should bring to the Ash Wednesday supper. I decided that I’d be giving up sweets – I have gained a few pounds since going into training because I just can’t say no to all that poor lonely candy sitting around begging for my sweet tooth. So that means that I shouldn’t be bringing dessert, correct? Which leaves a side-dish or meat (main dish?)…
I waited with great anticipation last Sunday for Pastor Juhl’s announcement on whether he is accepting the call to Our Savior in Momence. The announcement came, I was excited and said “I have to welcome him to the district” and promptly got busy with work and never welcomed Pastor Juhl.
So, here it is – Welcome to the Northern Illinois District.
Since Blogger won’t let me sign in I have to post this on my blog and hope the comment is read. I hate blogger – come on folks – get a real system. One that supports trackbacks/pings, etc.!
