Rider's Comments: Near Orland Park is this peaceful, secluded spot. Spring Creek runs through this 947-acre state nature preserve noted for beautiful spring wildflowers and rare bird species. At least 146 native plant species have been recorded here. To hike the nature trail, cross the stone bridge over Spring Creek and head north along a ridge overlooking a ravine. You will find water, picnic tables, shelters, and restrooms at both the Hawthorn and Oak Knoll areas. The northern section of the preserve is a designated Illinois Nature Preserve and is not open to pets.
