Rider's Comments: The Forest Preserve District of Will County's largest site is 1,800-acre Hickory Creek Preserve south of Mokena and north of Frankfort. The creek that bears its name runs through the preserve traveling west to the Des Plaines River. The preserve is divided into two sections by Wolf Road. The eastern section includes a 1.8-mile asphalt hiking and biking trail, as well as two short packed-earth and mowed turf hiking-only trails (.9 mile) that loop off the main trail.

Hickory Creek is home to the forest preserve district's Environmental Learning Center. Adult educational workshops are offered here year-round covering a wide variety of environmental subjects. Call (708) 479-2255 for more information.
