Rider's Comments: The Chicago & Joliet Electric Railway Company built the Dellwood Park in 1906 to increase the number of railway riders. A boathouse, dance hall, grandstand for races, merry-go-round, open-air theater, restaurant, and other attractions made this a popular spot for thousands of annual visitors from Chicago until a fire destroyed many of the buildings in 1930.

Today the park has 2 miles of asphalt and crushed gravel pathways as well as a performing arts center, picnic pavilions, playgrounds, and ball fields. A 1-mile asphalt trail loops around the ball fields. Another 1 mile of gravel and crushed limestone trail runs up and down the hills and ravines near Fraction Creek. Be careful on the gravel trails. Walk your bike down the steep hills. Water, shelters, picnic tables, and restrooms are available at the park.
