Rider's Comments: North Section Van Patten Woods, on the north end of the trail, allows 972 acres of recreation and fishing with it's 74 acre Sterling Lake.   The trail runs south to 132.  Currently (1996), there are plans to extend the path to the southern section.  The southern section starts at Highway 137 and runs to Rivershire Road.  Trail access points include St. Mary's Road, south of IL 176, Town Line Road IL60, and the Daniel Wright Woods at Everett and St. Marys Road.

At the southern most end, there is the Wright Woods Forest Preserve.  You also have the MacArthur Woods Forest Preserve and the Old School Forest Preserve on the north end.

Lake County Forest Preserves: Please respect the 18,500 acres of the Lake County Forest Preserves. Open daily from 8 a.m. to Sunset.  Alcoholic beverages are prohibited in or near any parking areas.  Pets are permitted, except in picnic areas, but must be controlled on a leash (no longer than 10 feet).  Forest Preserve Ranger Police regularly patrol the Preserves.  Ranger Police receive the same basic training as other Illinois police officers and have the same authority.  -LCFP
