Rider's Comments: There is a trail gap between Northwest Highway and Rand Road. To bypass this, you need to take Des Plaines River Road for half a mile and then go east on Algonquin to reconnect with the trail.
The suggested connecting route for the trail gap is rather unpleasant to ride. An alternative (coming from the south) is to take the Campground Road (A-85) that starts where the trail comes out of the forest preserve at Algonquin Road northwest to Miner Street (Miner is also Dempster St.), then Miner east to Garland Place, then cross Busse Hwy and pick up the trail again.
